for Japanese & Thai.

02 — Story
We serve only the freshest and finest ingredients — and here at Umu, you'll experience the liveliness and excitement of our exhibition kitchen.

Umu is a neighborhood sushi bar and Thai kitchen on Bruce B Downs, built around an open counter where the chefs work in full view. Nigiri is cut to order, rolls are pressed by hand, and the wok stays hot from lunch through late dinner.

Two menus, one room: a serious sushi program — Ora King salmon, bluefin akami through otoro, A5 wagyu, seasonal uni — alongside Thai signatures like Pad Thai, Panang and Green Curry, Tom Yum and Pad Kee Mao.

Everything is made to order. Order ahead online for pick-up with no hassle, or call for a table.

Where is UMU Japanese & Thai and when is it open?
UMU is at 2653 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Wesley Chapel, FL 33544. Lunch and dinner Monday–Thursday 11:30am–2:30pm and 4:30–10:00pm, Friday until 10:30pm; dinner only Saturday 4:30–10:30pm and Sunday 4:30–9:30pm.
Do you take reservations?
Yes — call (813) 591-6121 to reserve a table, or use the reservation form on umujapanese.com.
Can I order takeout online?
Yes. Order ahead for pick-up through the online ordering page — no hassle at the counter.
Are there gluten-free options?
Yes. Gluten-free dishes are marked GF on the menu — including Pad Thai, Green and Panang Curry, Tom Yum, many nigiri and hand rolls, and several signature rolls. Please tell your server about any allergy.
Is everything made to order?
Yes — every dish is prepared to order, so please allow ample time during busy periods. Dishes on the menu cannot be modified.
Do you have lunch specials?
Monday–Friday 11:30am–2:30pm: bento boxes from 11.5, roll combinations (pick 2 for 12, pick 3 for 16), and sushi-bar and donburi specials from 17.
